Shirley Barrett's South Solitary opens the Sydney Film Festival on June 2.
It tells the story of Meredith (Miranda Otto), who arrives on a remote island with her cantankerous uncle (Barry Otto). He is charged with improving the performance of its resident lighthouse keepers – rogue charmer Harry (Rohan Nichol) and smouldering loner Fleet (Marton Csokas).
Assailed by Harry's rambunctious kids and hard-bitten wife (Essie Davis) while constantly failing to meet the standards of her uncle, Meredith's eternal optimism is her only survival tool. By the time unforseen events leave her stranded on the island, romance is the thing she is least expecting.
The trailer was created by Zealot.
The film is released in cinemas on July 29.
