Stardom Awaits Talented Screen Students

SCREENWISE, Australia’s finest film and TV school for actors, begins its popular 2 Year Intensive Course this month with a stellar crew of teachers and state-of-the-art facilities.

The Surry Hills drama school boasts the cream of industry professionals among its staff including actors film star Colin Friels, Victoria Longley (The Goat), Steve Bastoni, Tina Bursill, Lewis Fitzgerald and Terry Serio (Keating the Musical) and prominent film makers like Peter Andrikidis, Darren Ashton, Tony Tilse and Chris Martin Jones.

The 2 Year Intensive Course is for actors who wish to prepare for and participate in a major industry showcase.  It provides students with the opportunity to have their work viewed live on stage and the big screen by agents, casting consultants, directors and other industry professionals. There are only a limited number of places and entry is by audition only.

The course comprises of two classes per week of 3 to 4 hours each over eight 10-week terms. Students take work experience in post syncing and ADR and also attend auditions for short films and commercial projects arranged through the school.

The curriculum includes the ‘Essentials’ (such as relationship and research, emotional response, characterisation and adjustments, script analysis and dialects);  ‘Style’ (TVCs, comedy, drama, presenting, TV sports and acting philosophies); ‘Necessities’ (technical fundamentals, rehearsals, blocking, continuity, post-syncing, cold reading); ‘Presentation’ (business of acting, networking and more). As well as the Stage and Screen Showcases, Graduates finish with a fully authored DVD compilation, showreel and certificate.

Graduate George Houvardas has signed on for 3 years as a regular star on the new Channel 7 Series, Packed To The Rafters with Rebecca Gibney and Eric Thompson.

Graduate and Bondi heart throb Christian Clark has had a 4 month assignment on the TV Series Neighbours, then went on to shoot the feature films Prey with Screenwise Pro Workshop student Natalie Bassingthwaite from Rogue Traders, Squid, Gates of Hell and is currently in Perth shooting Crush with Chris Egan.  
 
Graduate Ed Kavalee stars in Thank God You’re Here, the morning radio show Get This with Tony Martin, and has just finished shooting the feature film Squid which he co-wrote.  
 
Current student of Kensington Haven Tso has worked on a feature film Home Song Stories which is nominated this year for an Academy Award in the International Feature Film Category.  
 
Graduate Todd Lasance has just signed as a regular star on Home & Away, having recently finished working on McLeod’s Daughters, Black Jack and the feature film Fool’s Gold with Kate Hudson, Matthew McConaughey and Donald Sutherland.
 
Graduate Valentino Del Toro is shooting and Starring in To Hell and Bourke in Perth.  He was also in Gabriel, Sea Patrol and Two Twisted. Graduate Tabrett Bethell is just about to start shooting the feature film Mei Li Johnson in which she has the co-lead role. Pro Workshop Student Costa Ronin of Surry Hills stars in The Circuit on SBS which has just been nominated for 5 AFI Awards.   Graduate Brynn Loosemore has just finished filming Steven Spielberg’s The Pacific
