Summer Coda shoots next month

By Adam Coleman

Summer Coda, the debut feature from writer/director Richard Gray, will commence shooting in Mildura, New South Wales on November 9.

A romantic drama, Summer Coda was the runner-up in a 2005 film-making competition called Project Greenlight, which was produced by Hollywood actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck through their production company LivePlanet.

Solo, the winning script from that competition was also made into a film starring Colin Friels that went on to take more than $124,000 at the Australian box office.

Producer Richard Gray says that, after five years of development, he has the “strongest cast and crew imaginable”.

“We’re incredibly excited about moving into production in November – we have a beautiful story to tell,” he said in a statement.

Rachael Taylor (Transformers) and Alex Dimitriades (Head On) will lead the Australian cast.

Producing the project alongside Gray is Marc Goldenfein (who directed The Secret) and John Finemore along with associate producers Jamie Bialkower and Anita Ziemer.

Summer Coda will be partly shot in Reno, Nevada and will be co-distributed in Australia by Jump Street Films and Sharmill Films in 2010.
