Screen Australia has found investment funding to back a new feature film: Backtrack.
Billed by the producers as an "intelligent comedy about sex and secrets," The Little Death starts shooting in Sydney on July 29.
This may turn out to be a premature and fanciful call but 2014 is shaping as potentially one of the strongest years for Australian films, commercially and critically, in recent memory.
Australian author Markus Zusak, screenwriter Michael Petroni and Geoffrey Rush can take a bow- and maybe look forward to recognition at the Oscars.
Adrien Brody, Sam Neill, Bruce Spence, Robin McLeavy and Anna Lise Phillips are shooting Backtrack, a psychological thriller from writer-director Michael Petroni.
Michael Petroni is understandably chuffed by the B.O. results of The Book Thief, his adaptation of the Marcus Zusak novel- particularly in Australia.
Madman Entertainment is for sale. Toy, clothing and confectionery company Funtastic, which bought the distributor for $34.5 million in 2006, told the ASX it expects to finalise the sale before it announces its first half results.
Michael Petroni's supernatural thriller Backtrack will have its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival.
