We're not even halfway through the year, but 2021 is shaping up to be a record-breaker for Australian films at the box office.
According to Numero, to date, at a total of $71.4 million (excluding holdovers), Australian films have contributed 16 per cent of the national 2021 box office.
The Dry, Mortal Kombat, Penguin Bloom, Peter Rabbit 2 and A Sunburnt Christmas will battle it out for the AACTA Audience Choice Favourite Film Award on Wednesday, with the five nominees across each of the seven categories revealed ahead of this week’s ceremony.
