Press release from Movie Extra
MOVIE EXTRA announces that filming will commence on the second season of acclaimed comedy series, THE JESTERS, today in Sydney.
The second season of THE JESTERS has Mick Molloy (Crackerjack, The Late Show), reprise his role of washed up TV comedy legend turned producer Dave Davies with Susie Porter (East West 101, RAN), Deborah Kennedy (The Sum of Us, Neighbours) Andrew Ryan (Tomorrow When The War Began), Emily Taheny (Comedy Inc), Ben Geurens, Christian Barratt-Hill, and Travis Cotton also returning.
THE JESTERS once again goes behind-the-scenes and takes a hilarious look at the inner workings of a satirical comedy TV series. After a rocky Season One finale, The Jesters are determined to give showbiz another try. So too, is their ex-mentor, Dave Davies (Molloy) who is struggling with his new career as a “serious” television presenter.
General Manager, Content Strategy & Marketing for Movie Network Channels, Peter Jenetsky, says: “MOVIE EXTRA is incredibly excited to welcome back all of our original cast members for a 2nd season of this truly original and clever Australian comedy.
In Season One they formed a talented and entertaining ensemble with great chemistry and we are delighted that everyone is back on board and ready to let loose again to expose the “underbelly” of the media industry Subscription TV audiences can also look forward to a cavalcade of high profile guest stars to be featured during Season Two – some playing characters, some playing themselves – as they enter the regularly treacherous and always hilarious realm of THE JESTERS.”
Comedy veteran writers Kevin Brumpton and Angus FitzSimons (Comedy Inc, CNNNN, The Big Bite, Good News Week) are back on board having penned the second season of HE JESTERS, with Angus FitzSimon also directing the series.
The second season of THE JESTERS will be shot on location around Sydney and is expected to premiere on MOVIE EXTRA in early 2011.
