A directory of resources for film, TV and media production? There’s an app for that.
The Production Book iPhone app was officially launched today, joining a growing number of entertainment industry apps currently available on iTunes.
The Production Book, which is owned by IF magazine publisher Intermedia, is already published both online and in hardcopy.
The new app provides a comprehensive listing of professionals involved in the entertainment industry – from storyboard artists to best boys and armourers.
The Production Book app is being sold for $19.99 per year and allows users to save their favourite listings and contact companies directly by phone or email.
The last few months has seen an influx of film and television related apps hitting the market.
In January, the Independent Cinemas Association of Australia (ICAA) released My Cinema – a free app that provides movie information and session times for cinemas across Australia. The app can even use a GPS to locate the user’s nearest independent cinema.
Event Cinemas’ Pocket Cinema is similar in style.
Online DVD rental company Quickflix’s app allows users to select the queue of films they wish to hire.
Last year, the Sydney Film Festival used an app that allowed festival goers to purchase tickets on their phones, which would then be scanned at the door of the cinema.
