The Solid State Receives 8 Nominations in 2014 Golden Trailer Awards

The Solid State received 8 nominations in LA's prestigious Golden Trailer Awards, recognising the world’s best feature film marketing materials. The Sydney-based creative agency were nominated for their trailers for ‘The Trip To Italy’, ‘The Babadook’ and ‘The Turning’ as well as nominations for the Mbantua Festival and Tales of the One in Ten campaigns.

This event is dedicated to celebrating, recognizing and rewarding the extraordinary and talented artists, editors, executives, and visual effects and animation wizards who work so tirelessly to market their film magic to audiences worldwide.

Evelyn Brady-Watters, The Golden Trailer Awards Executive Director explains, "Any movie marketer will tell you, the most important part of their campaign is a powerful or memorable trailer. It is one of the key defining factors when it comes to teasing and influencing audiences as they make their decision to attend a movie on opening weekend or not. Just a few short years ago, trailers were experienced exclusively in theaters. Today, they are stand-alone entertainment experiences that are eagerly anticipated in theaters even as they drive billions upon billions of streams online to countless film fans all across the globe."

This year The Solid State is competing in 8 categories:

Best Trailer – No Movie SHERPA: In the Shadow of the Mountain – Felix Media
Best Foreign Comedy Trailer The Trip to Italy – Madman Entertainment
Best Foreign Documentary Trailer Only the Dead – Penance Films
Best Foreign Horror/Thriller Trailer The Babadook – eOne Entertainment,
Most Original Foreign Trailer The Turning – Madman Entertainment
Most Innovative Advertising for a Brand/Product Alice & The Giant Emptiness
Best Film Festival Trailer MBANTUA Festival
Best Film Festival Poster MBANTUA Festival

With an unbroken streak in the competition that now stretches to 19 awards in 7 years The Solid State founders Danny Lachevre and Walter Bienz cited the company’s comprehensive approach across all stages of production as the key factor in this latest success.

"We work closely with film makers and sales agents from a very early stage of development all the way through to when distributors are involved at theatrical release and home entertainment. Working across the entire life cycle of a film keeps us focused on the top level messaging, creating real connections with our campaign materials. " says Lachevre.

"Filmmakers need to think about their marketing right from the outset” said Bienz, “Whether it’s a pitch trailer for raising finance or a theatrical trailer for the public everyone wants to be excited by original and compelling stories – good marketing materials are essential to that”
“At film markets the sheer quantity of films competing for attention is staggering.” says Lachevre “Without great materials at presales stage a film can easily get lost in the sea of hundreds of titles and miss out of valuable overseas sales.”

Since 2007 The Solid State has become one of the world’s most successful full-service film marketing agencies consistently winning awards for all elements of their campaign work. Formed with the goal of offering producers, distributors and sales agents a single vision across the entire spectrum of campaign media, the company’s dedicated passion for film and tv continues to deliver memorable campaign materials for mainstream and independent film clients across the globe.
