Sarah Spillane’s True Spirit details Jessica Watson’s 2010 journey to become the youngest person to sail solo, non-stop and unassisted around the world.
Adapted from Jessica Watson’s memoir of the same name, the film stars Teagan Croft as the tenacious 16-year-old, with Josh Lawson and Anna Paquin playing Julie and Roger Watson, and Cliff Curtis portraying her coach Ben Bryant. The cast also includes Bridget Webb, Vivien Turner, Stacy Clausen, and Todd Lasance.
Spillane penned the script alongside Rebecca Banner and Cathy Randall. The producers are Susan Cartsonis for Resonate Entertainment; Debra Martin Chase for Martin Chase Productions; and Andrew Fraser for Sunstar Entertainment.
True Spirit will be available on Netflix from Friday, February 3.
