Revel 8 invites entries

Press release from Revel-8

REVEL 8 makes an audacious return to Revelation Perth International Film Festival.

Back for its third big year, the Revel 8 Super 8 Film Fest is ready to celebrate its unique fusion of image and sound with the cartridge-busting theme of "audacity"!

Explains Revel 8 Director, Keith Smith: ”The whole thing is, Super 8 is basically an audacious medium - it’s about audacious filmmakers telling audacious stories about audacious characters with audacious visual style on
an audacious media format, if you know what I mean …”

Audacious Super 8 filmmakers around the nation are invited to respond creatively and innovatively to the theme, and can explore the genres of drama, documentary, experimental and animation. Films must be shot in sequence on a single cartridge of Super 8 film lasting just three and a half minutes – no editing allowed! Prizes to be awarded include Best Film, Best Music Soundtrack, Audience Choice Award, Best Super 8 Cinematography and Encouragement Awards.

All you have to do is shoot the film. Revel 8 will process it and the enormously talented music composition students at the WA Academy of Performing Arts will compose and record music soundtracks for the best 20 films. Stand by for a celluloid and auditory revelation at the screening night to be held at Perth¹s unique Astor Cinema on Friday July 10, 2009.

Can’t make the big show at the Astor - don’t worry! Watch the live podcast on the night and re-live the festival screening on the Revel 8 website.
