The 2nd AACTA Awards Ceremony held at The Star Event Centre in Sydney, broadcast last Wednesday night, has been hailed as the best awards yet. In fact, it was the first event that saw all of Australia’s Oscar, BAFTA, Golden Globe and AFI awarded actors attending – being Geoffrey Rush (AACTA President), Cate Blanchett (AFI | AACTA Patron), Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe.
Behind the scenes highlights and winner acceptance speeches can be viewed on the AACTA YouTube channel. Photos are also being uploaded to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Some of the highlights include Cate Blanchett’s knockout red dress and Steven Curry and Ricky Ponting presenting together. A performance by Jessica Mauboy and other cast members of the Sapphires took place at the awards that was also accompanied by some of the original members of the Indigenous girl group.
The AFI | AACTA team is also compiling a highlights package which will include footage that didn’t go to broadcast as well as a clip of the tribute to the late Sarah Watt.
