Manny Gets Censored wins Fujifilm Best Australian Film at Mudfest 2014

PRESS RELEASE

SYDNEY, 19 March 2013 – With the overall competition coming down to 12 finalists out of over 700 entries from places as far afield as the USA, the UK, Finland and Croatia it was Manny Gets Censored, a tale in which a heartbroken young man’s life is literally censored, that won the Fujifilm Best Australian Film Award and $1500 of Fujifilm recording media products at this year’s Mudfest 2014 – the Mudgee International Short Film Festival held on the lawn’s of Mudgee’s Bunnamagoo Winery.

The People’s Choice Award went to the unique romantic comedy Man Of Action with The Judges Choice Award going to Off Season a UK film set around the study of evil and set against a frozen wasteland.

Mudfest co-organiser Mike O’Malley said, “Manny Gets Censored was a worthy winner of the Fujifilm Best Australian film award and prizes. Off Season got high praise from the judges, but only muted response from the audience. The judges were looking at the entries from a technical standpoint, but the crowd is there to be entertained so the People’s Choice winner is often something that is romantic or funny, and last night’s winner was both. We’d like to again thank Marc Van Agten and Fujifilm for being such committed sponsors and supporters of Mudfest.”
