Screen Queensland has opened applications for the first round of its 2017-18 Screen Culture Funding Program.
The program supports local screen events and festivals in communities across the state, enabling them to "contribute to a more competitive film industry domestically and internationally".
It also supports events that increase choice for audiences and aims to maximize Queensland and/or Australian content that has originated from Queensland.
Funding is competitive and in order to ensure Screen Queensland can support a broad range of events, funding is capped for projects of cultural significance and touring film festivals. Grants offered to successful applicants for other festivals will generally be in the range of $2,000 and $8,000.
Applications are for festivals and events taking place during the 2017-2018 financial year and taking place between 1 July 2017 to 30 December 2017.
• Applications close 5pm (AEST) (QLD) Friday, 17 March 2017
• All submissions reviewed March/April 2017
• Applicants notified of decision May 2017
