A Sydney based production team has joined an exclusive list of Grammy nominees after one of their projects, Liberacion – The Songs Of The New Cuban Underground, was nominated in the best long form music video category.
Director Reuben Fields and producer Dean Bates, both at Starchild Productions, join a short list of five projects that include the latest music DVDs from US artists Madonna and R. Kelly.
Bates told Inside Film they produced 12 music videos for the DVD, plus a documentary about the underground Cuban Raggaetton music scene from Santiago de Cuba, for their client Petrol Records – which specialises in world music.
Bates said Starchild’s next project is a six-part comedy series for the ABC, called Review with Myles Barlow.
The Grammy Awards will be presented on February 10, 2008.
