Press release from CinefestOZ
CinéfestOZ Film Festival 2011 is delighted to announce that internationally acclaimed Australian actor David Wenham will be a guest of the Festival on Saturday 27 August.
In its fourth year, CinéfestOZ (24 – 28 August 2011) showcases the best of Australian and French independent film against a stunning south-west backdrop.
Known for his roles in the film blockbusters Lord of the Rings, Moulin Rouge, and Australia, Wenham may be best remembered as Diver Dan alongside Sigrid Thornton in the SeaChange television series.
Wenham will attend CinéfestOZ to support his latest feature, Oranges and Sunshine. The film tells the story of Margaret Humphreys, a social worker from Nottingham who uncovered one of the most significant social scandals in recent times – the forced migration of children to Australia from the United Kingdom.
Wenham plays child migrant Len, in a role he has described as ‘one of the biggest challenges of my acting life’.
According to CinéfestOZ vice-chairman and film programmer Helen Shervington, Wenham’s attendance at CinéfestOZ will add depth and lustre to the Festival as well as profile.
“We are truly delighted that David will attend CinéfestOZ 2011. The cache his profile brings to the Festival is certainly appreciated, but most importantly he brings professionalism and a personal story of dedication to Australian film industry,” Helen said.
Wenham will attend the 1pm screening of Oranges and Sunshine on Saturday 27 August at Orana Cinemas, Busselton. From 2.45pm he will lead a post-screening Q&A session in the cinema foyer.
Wenham is also confirmed to be attending the Gala Party at The Goose Restaurant later that day.
