Flickerfest presented by Renault winds up its mammoth road trip for 2013 in Exmouth and Darwin this weekend, with our final date in Cairns in one weeks time!

43 towns and many 1000’s of kilometres later the grand Flickerfest road trip for 2013 is finally drawing to a close with Exmouth WA and Darwin NT this weekend and Trinity Beach Cairns QLD on Saturday the 11th of May. The festival programmes have been much loved across the country so don’t miss your last opportunity to see our Best Of international and Australian Shorts programmes handpicked from a record of over 2300 entries for this years event.

This Friday night 3rd May Darwin’s outdoor Deckchair Cinema will host the Best of Australian Shorts, screening at 7:30pm followed by The Best of International 1 at 9:30pm. Highlights of Best Of Australian Shorts at 730pm include the Darwin premiere of ‘Scar’– part love story part ghost story filmed in the Tiwi Islands by young Tiwi Director Tiffany Parker winner of best Emerging Talent at the 13th annual Imagine Film and Media Arts festival in Toronto, Canada, ‘Yardbird’ winner of Best Australian Film at Flickerfest 2013, a masterful film directed by Michael Spiccia and written by Julius Avery. ‘Lois’ – starring Academy®Award nominated acting legend Jacki Weaver and the quirky and highly crafted animation ‘A Cautionary Tail’ starring the voices of David Wenham, Cate Blanchett and Barry Otto.

Also screening before the Best Of Australian Programme is ‘Green Tree Frog’ a delightful animated music clip, winner of Best Primary School Animation at Flickerfest 2013, written and directed by years 5 and 6 at Milner Primary School Darwin in collaboration with two animation artists, Al Oldfield and Michael Roseth.

At 930pm Highlights of Best of International 1 will feature the quirky and magical ‘Route 43 Miracle’ from Sweden, charming French/Canadian film Chef De Meute, officially selected at Cannes Film Festival and ‘Curfew’ from the USA, Winner Best Live Action Short at this years Academy®Awards

Best of Australian Shorts will also hit the screens for the first time at Exmouth Ningaloo resort this weekend with screenings on both Friday and Saturday nights.

On May the 11th Flickerfest returns to Coast Watcher Park Trinity Beach Cairns celebrating the end of our 46 venue national tour in style with a free outdoor screening under the stars. Kicking off at 7pm will be our much loved Flickerkids -programme of shorts for shorties and the big kid in everyone followed by our Best of Australian programme at 8pm.
