Gregor Jordan directs Telstra ad

[press release from Prodigy]

Established feature film director Gregor Jordan of PRODIGY, (Two Hands, Buffalo Soldiers,Ned Kelly, The Informers) who is widely recognized as one of Australia’s most exciting talents, makes his first foray into television commercial directing with a series of new spots for Telstra. The “Call Mum” campaign, which launched on March 1st.

Jordan, the director of Swinger: 1995, Two Hands: 1999, Buffalo Soldiers: 2003 and Ned Kelly: 2003, brings forward his reputation as an ‘actor’s director’ as well as authentic visual style to give the Telstra “Call Mum” television campaign a warm, real life feel with strong and authentic performances.

Jordan uses subtle humour and nostalgic emotion within familiar household settings to touch on a subject nearly everyone can relate to – feeling guilty about not calling their mum (or other family members) enough.

For his cast selection, Jordan chose actors who had a genuine sense about them –which the audience can identify with, including John Jarratt, who played the unforgettable villain in Wolf Creek. Jordan captured great performances, which give the 30-second spots the feeling of a short film.

Jordan’s latest film premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival (February 2009) ‘The Informers’ is an American ensemble film written by Bret Easton Ellis, author of American Psycho and features all-star cast starring Bill Bob Thornton, Winona Ryder, Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke. It is released in Australia in April.
