JMC Academy’s short film festival coming soon

Press release from Wilkinson Group

Eighteen Gen Y film makers will make their big screen debuts in front of celebrated industry professionals at JMC Academy’s third Annual Short Film Festival, on November 25 as they vie to win a prestigious Martini Award.

Held at the Astor Theatre, the JMC Academy Short Film Festival will feature the best short films submitted by JMC Academy’s Melbourne Digital Film and Television Production students from 2010.

The student projects will be divided and judged in three categories: Documentary, Short Film and Animated Film.

“We are proud to present the best JMC Academy student projects from 2010 at this year’s film festival,” said JMC Academy General Manager, George Markakis.

“The scope of work will include first year student documentaries, second year student short films and the trailers for third year student feature films. Works by Digital Media and 3D Animation students will also be on display revealing a full scope of student talent.”

Individual Martini Awards will be presented to the winning entries, selected by a panel of judges consisting of Richard Wolstencroft, director of the Melbourne Underground Film Festival, Malcolm Turner, Executive Director of the Melbourne International Animation Festival, Seph McKenna, Head of Australian Production at Roadshow Films, and Naomi Mulholland, the Senior Production Coordinator on Rush.

“Having your film critiqued by such distinguished industry experts is an opportunity usually reserved for established film makers who have years of experience in film making,” said Mr Markakis.

“Such support from members of the Australian Film community really inspires students to push their creativity and encourages them to participate in more of these types of events.”
