The highly-anticipated Machete, starring Danny Trejo in his first main role, is about an ex-Federale who launches a rampage of revenge against his former boss after being betrayed.
Co-directed by Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk Till Dawn), the action flick was released in the US on September 3 and has made $US26,576,752 domestically.
Machete, based on the fake trailer in 2007's Grindhouse, features a stellar cast including Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba and Steven Seagal and it was the closing film of Sydney's Fantastic Planet festival earlier this month.
The $20 million film was released today (Thursday, November 11) nation-wide.
