Richard Harris.
Richard Harris has stepped down as Screen Australia’s head of business and audience after nearly three years in the post.
The highly regarded executive joined the agency after seven years as CEO of the South Australian Film Corp.
Harris is taking a break and has hinted he may write a book. Today on Facebook he said: “It was such a privilege to be at the agency working with such a great team and dealing with so many talented people in our industry – trying to make a little difference where we could.
“I hope to be able to eventually work with [these people] again now I am back out in the world in the independent sector. “
Prior to the SAFC he was executive director of the Australian Directors Guild. His previous experience included policy positions at the Screen Producers Association of Australia and the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.
He taught media policy at the University of Sydney and in 2007 wrote the prescient book ‘Film in the Age of Digital Distribution’.
In the interim Screen Australia CEO Graeme Mason is overseeing the business and audience operations.
