SBS Radio has partnered with AFTRS to offer a Graduate Diploma in Radio scholarship, focused on developing bilingual Australian radio talent.
The successful student will also be offered a one day-a-week placement with SBS Radio in 2017.
“Multilingual talent is at the heart of SBS Radio and we are thrilled to be working with AFTRS to encourage and champion further representation,” said director of SBS Radio Mandi Wicks.
“We are proud to be leading the way with this Australian-first initiative, a unique opportunity for any budding radio talent, and we look forward to welcoming the successful applicant to the team in 2017.”
The scholarship covers the cost of tuition and the successful student will be selected on the basis of merit.
The following language groups are qualified to apply for the scholarship: Arabic, Mandarin, Cantonese, Kurdish, Hindi, Korean, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Italian, Greek and Nepali. Shortlisted students will be required to undertake a language test facilitated by SBS Radio.
Applications for the AFTRS Graduate Diploma of Radio are open for a second round from December 1, 2016 to January 15, 2017.
Students offered a place through this scholarship will be required to study full time at the AFTRS Sydney campus, with a commencement date of February 20, 2017.
