Screen Australia is offering marketing support for producers to attend this year’s World Congress of Science and Factual Producers (WCSFP), which is being held 18–21 November in Beijing, China.
The WCSFP is a member-run organisation representing science and other factual producers and broadcasters around the world. The Congress will feature a program of sessions, market events to help independent producers meet with decision makers and social events. Last year, more than 600 members participated in a sold-out industry conference in Montreal, Canada.
The 2014 host broadcaster is CCTV and CCTV9 Documentary Channel in Beijing.
Additionally, the 2014 Congress is being held after the Guangzhou International Documentary Film Festival, China (GZDOC), 11–14 November. All WCSFP members will receive a 15 per cent discount on GZDOC registration.
Applicants can apply to Screen Australia for up to $5,000 towards the cost of attending the Congress to advance their projects in development. Selection is by a competitive assessment process. Producers must demonstrate the suitability of their slate for this event as well as articulate a specific marketing strategy for Congress, which will be considered alongside their credits and industry experience.
The International Markets application form is available on the Screen Australia website, along with guidelines outlining all eligibility criteria.
More information about the WCSFP is available on its website and Screen Australia's market profile page.
The deadline for applications is COB Monday 15 September 2014.
