Australian short filmmakers have just 40 days left to submit their film for the 2008 SHORTS Film Festival for the chance to see their work showcased at three festivals including the prestigious Rushes Soho Shorts Festival (www.sohoshorts.com) in the UK in 2009.
Entries made before the extended August 15 deadline will not only be considered for the 2008 SHORTS Film Festival in Adelaide in November but also SHORTS Outback and the Rushes Soho Shorts Festival in 2009.
“A single entry could get your film shown in Adelaide, Parachilna and London and take you to Cannes for the biggest film festival in the world,” said SHORTS director and acclaimed Australian film producer David Lightfoot.
“No other film festival connects an Australian capital city with the outback, a European capital city and the South of France, with each destination enjoying a strong connection with film and the film industry.”
The winner of the 2008 SHORTS Film Festival receives a trip to Cannes Film Festival including return airfare, festival entry, accommodation and $1,000 spending money. The total prize pool is over $50,000 making it one of the most lucrative in the country.
Other prizes include two days use of a ‘Boom Sound’ Mixing Theatre valued at $6,000 proudly supported by Bestñfx plus return airfare for an interstate winner, in addition to a number of merit prizes.
For those 25 years and under, there is also a special Best 25 Under prize provided by the Kojo Group, comprising Oasis post-production services including editing and colour grading valued at $7,000 and Kojo Productions camera hire and production valued at $3,000.
The SHORTS Film Festival is open to all filmmakers across the country and aims to champion and reward quality cinematic storytelling.
