The Beast is back

Press release from ABC TV

Hungry Beast will return for a further 10 episodes in 2010 – at the same time on the same night, starting Wednesday 10 February at 9pm.

ABC TV’s Director of Television, Kim Dalton, said: “Hungry Beast has been a big adventure for all concerned – the 19 young people that pulled this show together from scratch are to be congratulated. We’ve had some controversy, hilarity, and some revealing and moving stories. 2009 was a great start and in 2010 Hungry Beast will be even stronger.”

Executive Producer Andrew Denton said: “ABC TV took a punt on 19 unknowns creating a new, topical TV show from the ground up, and have been rewarded in the first 10 eps with some truly fresh and original television. We are delighted ABC TV has decided to back a second series of Hungry Beast as their investment in new talent and ideas can only blossom further.”

Regular features from the first series will continue in 2010, including Victoria Dynamite Investigates, Things We Think Might Be Bullshit, Follow The Money, Stuff Said This Week, Who’s Really Who, The Other News and Coming Up Next Week.

But some changes are planned – including an on-screen focus on four main presenters who will be announced in January. As with series 1, however, all the Beasts might be seen on screen as they all contribute to story ideas and production.

Next year the website will continue to provide regular and exclusive stories and content, with an increased focus on interaction with the audience. To see episodes from series 1 and web content go to www.abc.net.au/hungrybeast.
