The cast of Stephan Elliott’s upcoming feature film A Few Best Men has been unveiled ahead of its shoot, which begins in Sydney and the Blue Mountains next week.
Xavier Samuel (Twilight: Eclipse, Bait, Anonymous), Kris Marshall (Death At A Funeral, Easy Virtue), Kevin Bishop (The Kevin Bishop Show, Star Stories) and Olivia Newton-John will star in the film about a destination wedding gone totally wrong.
Stephan Elliott last directed Easy Virtue and made his mark in the Australian industry with The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert.
“A Few Best Men is my take on a hugely successful emerging genre – wedding movies for boys," he said in a statement. "The girls get the big day. The boys get to sabotage it. And boy I am gonna have some fun. Plus, I believe it is my moral and patriotic duty to employ my ageing friends before they die."
Other actors in the film include Laura Brent (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader), Tim Draxl (Tangle 2), Steve Le Marquand (Beneath Hill 60, Last Train To Freo), Rebel Wilson (Bridesmaids, The Wedge) and political satirist Jonathan Biggins.
Producer Gary Hamilton said he was delighted that Xavier Samuel and Olivia Newton-John were on board A Few Best Men.
"Dean Craig has written a fantastically entertaining script, and it's especially exciting to partner Stephan Elliott with Olivia who is a true music and film icon. Olivia will be playing a role that will show her in a light she's never been seen before and it's going to turn heads and win new fans."
The crew includes Priscilla’s Academy Award-winning costume designer Lizzy Gardiner (Burning Man, Mission Impossible II), production designer George Liddle (Daybreakers) and director of photography Steve Windon ACS (The Pacific, The Fast & The Furious: Tokyo Drift).
A Few Best Men will be distributed in Australia and New Zealand by Icon Film Distribution with international sales by Arclight and Quickfire.
