The search is on for Australia’s first OneShot Film Maker for 2015

Gold Coast-based Stage One Productions is set to host its Inaugural One Shot Film Festival on Saturday 17th January 2015 at Warner Bros MovieWorld, Hollywood on the Gold Coast.

The red carpet gala event is unique in that it is offering film makers the chance to enter not only traditionally made films, but specifically those made within the technically challenging guidelines of ‘one shot’.

The Best One Shot Film award will be announced on the night, as well as additional awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Cinematography. A second category open to regular (non-one shot) films will be eligible for a Best Film award.

The festival will host celebrity judges and industry professionals including Ian Stenlake (Sea Patrol), John Batchelor (Red Dog), and Liz Cantor (Channel 7)

The festival was conceived by Stage One co-founders Darwin Brooks and Blair Moore after their success of PROJECT: ONE SHOT, a history-making film shot at Sanctuary Cove in mid-2014. The film, funded personally by the cast and crew themselves, consisted of one single, continuous Steadicam shot tracking 35 scenes written by 16 writers, performed by over 150 local actors and co-ordinated by 50 crew, consisting of cinematographers, sound technicians, make-up artists, assistant directors, stunt co-ordinators, costume and set designers and traffic control officers.

“Stage One is about creating, fostering and supporting our local industry in any way we can,” said Mr Brooks.

“We set out to establish a hub for actors and film makers to independently explore their own art forms while connecting with the greater industry as a whole. We offer guidance but encourage people to be in charge of their own destiny,” said Mr Moore.

In keeping with its core philosophy and company vision, the Stage One Inaugural Film Festival has been developed and co-ordinated by local film talent. Producer Wade Boyes is managing Marketing, Producer Sonia Carroll is handling Publicity, and Critic Susan Bush is in charge of Festival Rules & Guidelines, copy writing, and judging.

Opportunities for businesses to donate prizes are still available for some of the major awards. Tickets are $55 per person and can be purchased via the website
