Starring Andrew Garfield, Vince Vaughn, Sam Worthington, Ryan Corr and Mel Gibson's son, Milo, Hacksaw made its Australian premiere last night at the State Theatre.
On hand to present the film were Gibson, producers Bill Mechanic and Bruce Davey, and actors Teresa Palmer, Rachel Griffiths, Hugo Weaving, Nico Cortez, Luke Bracey, Harry Greenwood, Firass Dirani, Ben Mingay, Jacob Warner, Luke Pegler, Goran Kleut and others.
Gibson himself was introduced by old friend Sam Neill, who described his Attack Force Z co-star as "50 per cent genius, 25 per cent knucklehead and 25 per cent idiot."
"He's a bundle of contradictions but you've just got to love the man."
Mechanic and Gibson praised the work of Screen Australia, Screen NSW and Ausfilm in making the film possible.
