Award winning Independent Australian feature film PLAYING FOR CHARLIE continues to notch up laurels on the international film festival circuit.
With festival screenings in Rome, the UK and the US, the coming-of-age drama has been invited to the A-list Shanghai International Film Festival, headed by this year’s Oscar winner Danny Boyle.
Director Pene Patrick has been invited to be a guest of the Festival. Later this month, PLAYING FOR CHARLIE is screening at the prestigious Zlin International Festival of Youth Films in the Czech Repubic.
Zlin is the oldest and largest film festival of its kind and takes place in the picturesque city of Zlin, in the Eastern part of the Czech Republic. PLAYING FOR CHARLIE will screen in the Panorama Section, which celebrates films with a new, unconventional vision.
Described as "…the gem of Australian films" at the Sydney Film Festival, and playing to sold out screenings at the Melbourne International Film Festival, writer, director Pene Patrick said audiences from Rome to Dubbo are responding to the film’s heartwarming story and honest, engaging performances.
Described in Variety as ‘inspirational’ with a wonderfully atmospheric score by Lisa Gerrard, PLAYING FOR CHARLIE, produced by Franziska Wagenfeld, will be released theatrically into Australian cinemas in February 2010.
