Australia has representation across the drama, comedy, non-scripted, and short-form categories for this year’s International Emmy Awards.
Amazon MGM Studios’ Deadloch (Comedy), Werner Film Productions/ABC’s second season of The Newsreader (Drama Series), Endemol Shine Australia/Nine Network’s The Summit (Non-Scripted Entertainment), and Sydney Production Company/ABC’s Kweens of the Queer Underground (Short-Form Series) were among are 56 Nominees across 14 categories announced in New York last Thursday (US time).
They join titles from Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Türkiye and the United Kingdom.
This year’s winners will be announced at the 52nd International Emmy Awards Gala in New York City, on Monday, November 25.
International Academy president and CEO Bruce L. Paisner paid tribute to this year’s nominees, describing them as a “testament to the universal appeal of great storytelling across all genres, countries, and cultures”
“Every year the international television community competes to be recognized on the International Emmys’ much coveted global stage,” he said.
“We congratulate the nominees for their outstanding programs and performances.”
The International Emmys has been a happy hunting ground for Australian titles in the past few years, with Heartbreak High, Built to Survive, and Harley & Katya winning last year while the second season of Love on the Spectrum was recognised at the 2022 ceremony.
